Best lap in 1.01.380 in 1982, at the Swiss Grand Prix, still held to this day by Alain Prost.
The best qualifying lap during the Dijon Motors Cup in 2022 was set by Klaas Zwart in 1.02.191, quite close to what Patrick Tambay set at the 1984 French Grand Prix with a qualifying lap of 1.02.200.
Back in the day, almost 40 years ago, drivers and F1 cars were already top performers!

The previous record had been held since 2015 by Ingo Gerstl on a TORO ROSSO STR1 F1 (BOSS GP) with a lap of 1.02.985. He had beaten the previous record held by Alain Prost at the 1984 French Grand Prix, with a best time of 1.05.257.
This record was broken during the Dijon Motors Cup weekend (Saturday, October 8th 2022) with a best lap still set by Klass Zwart in a Jaguar R5 F1 ex Mark Webber in 1.02.540 at an average speed of 218.7 km/h! Welcome Mr Zwart!
