Description It is undoubtedly the greatest and most formidable industrial epic of modern times. Appearing at the end of the 19th century, the automobile has experienced continuous and exponential development until today. The Fabulous History of the automobile in our region tells the adventure of the first actors of this revolution through their incredible inventions.
In Lyon, more than 150 builders embarked on this adventure at the beginning of the 20th century, making the capital of Gaul the great rival of Paris. Berliet, Cottin & Desgouttes, Rochet-Schneider, Luc Court, La Buire, and many others less known were the spearheads of the development of the automobile on a regional, then national, scale. Inventing and producing the most innovative models of their time; attracting a clientele that will continue to grow over time while promoting French mechanical know-how abroad.
In Burgundy-Franche-Comté, Th. Schneider, Donnet-Zedel, Rossel, Terrot, and of course Peugeot also participated in the development of this new mode of transport, also multiplying innovations, establishing quality as a standard and stimulating mechanical progress.
The Lyon region and Burgundy-Franche-Comté have played a crucial role in introducing the car into our daily lives.
